Welcome to My Hyprocure Procedure Recovery / Testimonial Blog!
My name is Calvin and I have recently had flat feet correction surgery (Hyprocure) by Dr.Katz from Anaheim, CA. Prior to deciding on surgery, I've found other patients' blogs immensely helpful as it provided useful tips and expectations. As you may know, not tons of information on Hyprocure is readily available offline and many Podiatrists don't even know enough to recommend this procedure to you. Thus, I hope my short recovery blog will provide some insight and hopefully answer some questions.
Intro: I am 34 years young male who was diagnosed with "Flexible Flat Feet," meaning that I was not born with the condition but had a fallen arch as I aged. I am generally active, swimming about 30 minutes at least 5 days out of a week and love to visit and randomly walk around big cities such as NYC. So when my feet started giving me issues, I sought after the permanent cure which involved minimally invasive procedure and fast recovery time. Come Hyprocure.
Initial Symptoms: I love to pop in my ear buds and walk around. Having lived in some of the most popular cities United States has to offer (San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles and frequent visit to NYC), I could always picture myself in the middle of the city where I can just rely on public transportation instead of having to drive everywhere.
When I became 33, I started to feel numbness / stingy pain in my right toes when I laid on my back to go to bed. It lasted for a week and went away, so I did not think much of it. But as I started to work out more regularly on a treadmill, the pain would eventually come back and each time it will come with a new symptom. I started to have sharp, shooting pains in my right big toe (Gout) and on the days I walk for too long, I would develop terrible heel pain a day after (Plantar Fasciitis). My legs started to feel heavy and my left knee started to pop more often.
I realized that I started to have neuropathy symptoms in my right foot, and tendon pains in my left foot. I would take 15-min walking break from work with coworkers and I would feel sudden pull-feeling in my left achilles tendon (Achilles Tendinitis). As I became aware of these issues, I would always stay cautious and even on the days when it didn't hurt, I would expect it to happen at any time and started to walk awkwardly, trying not to shift my full weight on my left foot. I started to limp a bit, although not totally noticeable to others.
Initial Remedies: Scared that I have something sinister, I had Kaiser HMO as my insurance provider and explained my symptoms. Kaiser did blood / urinary test and when it came back normal, they gave me MRI on my brain as I told them I sometimes feel dizzy when having trouble with weight shifting while walking. All came back normal and Kaiser would not want to do any further tests. Shortly after, I got a new job which provided me with PPO option. I visited local Podiatrist in LA and he felt my feet muscles and told me that I had a Flexible Flatfeet, which is pretty common as we age. My age was within the normal age group that can have this problem, but he believed that I always had a low arch or exercised with wrong shoes that provided no support. This is somewhat true, as I have been running with just Vans or Converse, which were not designed as running shoes. He suggested that I try "Super Feet" insoles and that should solve the problem. I went ahead and purchased one ($50) along with a couple of other cheaper insoles ($25 - gel type ones which provided more cushioning).
Done with Insoles: Although I tried Super Feet, it only alleviated the pain but did not make it completely go away. I would still have achilles pains and limp around. When I tried more expense ($100) orthotics from Amazon, I hoped for the best. Again, these worked a little better but did not offer much in solving my problems. I re-visited the podiatrist and he told me that if it doesn't work, he can create a custom orthotics which would make a difference as a night and day compared to the over-the-counter options. When asked about how I should manage my pain going forward, he said there are two options: 1) Wear custom orthotics for rest of my life 2) have a surgery which would be very invasive and can take about 6-months to heal and I need to learn how to walk all over again. I left the office and was supposed to make a third appointment to get the custom orthotics, but I wanted something more permanent - not a bandage but a solution that eradicates the problems at its core.
Deciding on Hyprocure: I researched my options and found Hyprocure. My podiatrist didn't seem to be familiar with the procedure, but it offered minimally invasive surgery with just a few weeks to recover. And it will also address the whole balance of my body and free me from neuropathy (turns out, my toe numbness / stingy pains are a result of "Over Pronation," which is what happens when your toes stretches out as your arch collapses) and tendon issues. This sounded too good to be true. Luckily, Hyprocure site had tons of information and I was able to learn the procedure from Youtube videos and patient testimonials. This is when personal recovery blogs were really helpful to me, as I noted that only 1 out of 10 + blogs I read stated that it did not work out for that person. Everyone seems to be praising this procedure and how it changed their lives. Some even mentioned that Hyprocure is to legs what Lasik is for eyes. Instant Solution. This is pretty good success rate! I decided to get a second opinion to make sure I am a good candidate for Hyprocure.
Deciding on Clinic: I thought living in LA would provide me with perks of getting all the latest techniques from nearby places, but to my surprise, there weren't that many doctors that were qualified to perform this procedure. I found only 2 surgeons on Hyprocure's website, Dr. Nasim Kalhor from Sherman Oaks and Dr. Jeffrey Katz from Anaheim Hills, both rated as "Master Surgeon." I found 2 other surgeons that can do this in Hollywood and Beverly Hills (which would have been really close to me), but their names were not listed on Hyprocure's website and I read somewhere that sometimes inferior version of Hyprocure is used. Although I'm sure they are both perfectly capable surgeons, I decided to proceed with recommended doctors per Hyprocure's site. Turns out, Nasim Kalhor actually practices out of Palmdale and only comes to Sherman Oaks office twice in a month. So I made an appointment to Dr. Katz's office and let them know that I was coming to see if I am a good candidate for Hyprocure.
Compare Hyprocure to inferior product!
